When I was 16 yrs. old, Becky came into my life at the right time. My Dad was living at an all men clean and sober house, with out the finances to move out and take care of me. My Mom was living with a couple. I lived with Mom but she was using drugs and indangering their home. I just recently was homeless with my Mom, living at the Union Gospel Mission and I didn't want to go back, because of the way the other residents talked and looked at me.
Becky didn't want me to go through that again. She knows like I do about what goes on there and how my presence there could give the wrong impressions to others.
I met Becky at the Homeless Youth Outreach Program, and one time talking to her had me coming back. Knowing my situation Becky opened her heart and home to me and another family that were living in their cars for 3-4 months as well as at the Mission.
Becky gave me all I needed (love, hope and physical needs) as well as the motivation I desperately needed to build the security I never had.
After being homeless and meeting lots of people on the streets I have a deeper understanding of their needs. Becky makes a commitment to talk to homeless people daily. She knows that talking can help the soul, but it won't feed the body.
Becky is GENERATING HOPE. The people in Yakima are praying, have been praying for a program like this. She is a God send to many and she is a God send to me. I believe in her, if half the people she helped could write in, I'm sure they would. You would be God sends, miracles like Becky has been for us. Giving Generating Hope a chance could be one of the best things Yakima ever had, for now and the future. Thank you. 3/26/06

Generating Hope has been a life saver for my kids and I.
My family became homeless because of my Divorce, our home was in my husbands name. He had let the house return to the bank through non- payment, they forclosed on it. The foreclosure happened before our Divorce was final, so it is on me too.
I was turned down on all my rental applications because of this forcloser on my rental check back ground. I went from agency to agency. Finally I got on a 2 yr. waiting list through the Housing Authorities. I went to Salvation Army and other Organizations for food and cloths. But basically we've been in our cars for 2 yrs.
You can't get a job without A phone # and you can't get a phone without a home and you can't get a home without a job.
Robecka Morrow gave my kids and I the home and the phone # to start with. So now I've been working for almost a year and my kids and I finally have a home of our own.
I really feel that GENERATING HOPE and it's whole program would be one of the most positive things Yakima Washington and it's growing population of homeless people.
We all need a little help and most of all hope, instead of going around in circles. Thank you. 3/06
